The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in delivering advanced psychiatric care under the guidance of a psychiatrist. This position involves:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Providing both acute and long-term psychiatric care in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Prescribing medications, including antipsychotics, and interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Leading recovery team meetings and participating in court hearings as necessary.
- Monitoring patient progress and making recommendations for treatment adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating patients' mental health status and documenting findings accurately.
- Supervising and mentoring other nursing staff in psychiatric care practices.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Engaging in ongoing professional development and training.
Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A valid registered nurse license in Texas or a state with reciprocity.
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
- Specialization certification from a recognized nursing credentialing body.
- Current registration with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
- A National Provider Identifier (NPI#) as defined by Medicare.
Work Environment:
This position may require flexibility in work hours, including potential overtime and extended shifts. Compliance with immunization policies and participation in disaster response activities may also be necessary.
