Position Overview:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be accountable for ensuring the highest standards of care for residents within your designated unit.

Your role will involve adhering to all health, sanitation, and infection control protocols while upholding the established standards of practice as defined by the facility's administration and nursing policies.


Supervisory Structure:
Reports to the Unit Manager / RN Supervisor.

Direct Reports:
Certified Nursing Assistants.

Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience in geriatric nursing or rehabilitation.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English; capable of following both oral and written directives.
  • Strong familiarity with the MS Office suite and other office technologies.
  • Willingness to work scheduled hours as per the needs of the position.

Work Environment:
Work in a well-lit and ventilated setting.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to move throughout the day, employing proper body mechanics. The role requires physical stamina, including frequent bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching overhead.

Visual and auditory capabilities, or the use of assistive devices, are necessary to meet the demands of this position. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Technical Skills:
Adheres to health, sanitation, and infection control policies while maintaining compliance with safety regulations.

Understands and respects the Resident's Bill of Rights and ensures confidentiality of resident information. Responsible for maintaining accurate records in a timely manner and projecting a professional image at all times.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Orders medications and manages documentation of physician's orders.
  • Conducts nursing assessments during each shift.
  • Provides shift reports to Certified Nursing Assistants and ensures completion of assignments.
  • Performs rounds on residents regularly.
  • Collaborates with the Care Plan Coordinator to develop and update nursing care plans.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary care conferences.
  • Assists physicians during rounds and special procedures.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of nursing assistants and supports their training.
  • Documents disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Communicates changes in resident conditions to appropriate parties.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as directed by the RN Supervisor.
