Job Title: Teacher of General Health Sciences

At the Newark Board of Education, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of General Health Sciences to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them develop essential skills for a healthy and successful life.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Teacher of General Health Sciences to teach a variety of health-related subjects to students in grades [insert grade levels]. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans.

Responsibilities:
  1. Plan and deliver comprehensive health education programs that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  2. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
  3. Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide health education initiatives.
  5. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Health Science, or a related field.
  2. New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) in General Health Sciences.
  3. Current and valid teaching certificate in the appropriate subject/content area issued by the New Jersey Department of Education.
  4. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
What We Offer:
  1. Competitive salary range: $65,000-$107,010.
  2. Ten (10) month employment period.
  3. Union affiliation: Newark Teacher's Union (NTU).
