Position Overview:
This role involves delivering healthcare services across all age demographics by executing PET and/or general Nuclear Medicine imaging. Responsibilities include the preparation of radioisotopes, quality assurance, and the acquisition and processing of data. Imaging and data results will be submitted for interpretation by Nuclear Medicine specialists.
Professional Responsibilities:
• Exercise professional judgment in the execution of services in accordance with the Code of Conduct established by the relevant certification board (CNMT, ARRT(N)).
• Provide exemplary patient care in alignment with Radiology Gold Service Excellence standards to ensure successful procedure completion.
• Collaborate as a team member to enhance job stewardship while being mindful of both Internal and External customer service standards.
Key Duties:
• Obtain diagnostic images for interpretation.
• Verify the patient's clinical history and the ordered exam while adhering to patient identification protocols.
• Utilize appropriate radiation protection devices and immobilization techniques tailored to the specific age group.
• Adhere to Radiation Safety protocols for both the patient and self.
• Position patients accurately for optimal anatomical demonstration, respecting their condition and capabilities.
• Operate nuclear medicine equipment in accordance with established protocols.
• Provide high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
• Calibrate and conduct diagnostic studies using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect emitted radiation and produce images.
• Apply guest relation skills in line with the Patient and Families First Principles.
• Work consistently as a team member, willing to assist colleagues and cross modalities as necessary.
• Follow Infection Control practices by utilizing aseptic techniques and observing Universal precautions to ensure patient safety.
Educational Contributions:
• Assist in the education of Nuclear Medicine Technology students and/or healthcare professionals.
• Participate in the division's quality improvement initiatives.
Physical and Professional Requirements:
• Meet the professional role expectations of a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, which include critical thinking, interpersonal skills, communication, and physical mobility (pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds).
• Possess sensory abilities including speech, hearing, touch, and visual observation, along with cognitive attention for patient safety.
• Have completed a clinical internship in Nuclear Medicine.
• Hold a bachelor's degree or an associate (AS) degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or have successfully completed an accredited certification program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technology (N) is required or must be registry eligible.
• BLS certification or eligibility for certification is necessary.
Work Environment:
This position may require rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, with specific hours varying.
