MITRE's Finance organization is in search of a Business Partner (BP) to act as a financial advisor for the Air & Space Forces (A&SF) organization.
In this role, you will be the primary source for daily financial management and business decision support, playing a crucial role in the business operations that enhance MITRE's value to our government partners.
The Finance BP for A&SF will also be responsible for fostering collaboration within the broader finance community to support MITRE's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
The Finance Business Partner will serve as the trusted advisor and mini-CFO for a designated customer organization, acting as the single point of contact for Finance matters.
They will lead Finance functions supporting the organization, maintaining a comprehensive awareness of issues related to program finance, invoicing, operations, and contracts impacting the customer.
Demonstrated ability to resolve issues from inception to completion, collaborating across functional teams, is essential.
The Finance BP is expected to establish a reputation as the chief problem solver for their customer, assisting them in navigating complex challenges throughout the Finance organization and addressing center-level operational issues with financial implications.
To succeed in this role, building and maintaining positive relationships with customer stakeholders is vital, prioritizing favorable financial outcomes for both the customer and MITRE.
The Finance BP must ensure robust operating financial controls and compliance with MITRE Finance policies within the customer organization.
Additionally, the Finance Business Partner should collaborate with the customer to drive long-term planning, aligning financial resources to support desired outcomes.
For significant investments, they should guide business case development, ensuring financial sustainability under various scenarios.
The Finance BP provides a framework and data to guide forecasting and target setting, ensuring the customer has a realistic and accurate forecast based on demand signals.
They should also ensure the customer is actively engaged in understanding the current landscape of their awarded work while effectively managing the necessary processes and policies to ensure completeness and consistency.
Finance BPs collaborate with customers to develop annual indirect budgets aligned with the organization's strategic priorities.
The Finance BP delivers regular and recurring management reporting and analysis, including essential monthly artifacts such as monthly business reviews.
They should analyze and interpret business drivers and variances to budget using various financial systems.
Financial management reporting should emphasize lessons learned and prioritize recommendations for leadership actions.
Effective communication of financial results with useful visual narratives and concise actions is crucial.
Like all MITRE Finance employees, Finance BPs support business transformation and process reengineering efforts, leveraging their relationships with stakeholders to drive requirements that meet business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of finance and/or accounting experience within the US Government (Federal) practice of a professional services firm with a Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with an MBA.
Demonstrated passion, energy, and enthusiasm for learning and applying creative problem-solving techniques.
Strong attention to detail; resourceful self-starter who follows through on commitments.
Mindset of continuous improvement with the ability to drive change.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills.
Consensus builder; able to promote ideas and gain buy-in on new approaches.
Flexible team player with the capability to work in cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent work streams while maintaining high-quality output.
US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Deltek Cost Point, Tableau, and/or Cognos Analytics is preferred.
