Position Overview:

The Floor Technician is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance of both hard surfaces and carpets. This includes tasks such as stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting in various areas including offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough cleaning and maintenance of floors, ensuring high standards of cleanliness.
  2. Perform additional cleaning tasks as needed, including dusting surfaces, emptying waste baskets, and damp wiping furniture.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms by polishing metal and porcelain fixtures.
  4. Sanitize floors in rooms and offices, spot clean walls and windows, and replenish room supplies.
  5. Execute vacuuming of carpets and perform heavier cleaning duties in assigned areas.
  6. Notify supervisors regarding major repairs or maintenance needs for lighting, heating, and ventilation systems.
  7. Work independently while adhering to project schedules and minimizing disruption to clinical areas.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional service to all customers.
  • Sign in and out for communication devices as required.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and use Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Transport waste from designated areas and perform cycle cleaning of ceilings and walls.
  • Measure and mix cleaning chemicals appropriately.
  • Assist in managing emergency spills and report customer feedback to supervisors.
  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned work areas and attend mandatory meetings.
  • Follow all hospital and departmental policies and be open to additional duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

1-2 years of experience in floor care is preferred.

Special Requirements:

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to operate specialized floor care equipment, including but not limited to Side by Side Orbital Machines, Carpet Extractors, Floor Burnishers, and Auto Scrubbers. Effective communication skills are essential, with a focus on consideration for patients, staff, and visitors in the vicinity.
