JOB SUMMARY

This position will spearhead the execution of a proactive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) strategy, along with security protocols. The role is essential in formulating and delivering a tailored strategy that aligns with Sysco's overarching HSE goals, including security and crisis management initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with operational leadership to craft a comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) strategy that aligns with corporate objectives.
  • Design effective HSE plans aimed at minimizing injuries, accidents, and incidents.
  • Communicate HSE strategies and objectives effectively to senior management.
  • Assist site management in executing HSE plans.
  • Establish and implement metrics to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure accountability.
  • Create and deliver training programs to enhance HSE knowledge and competencies among management and staff.
  • Conduct audits to assess compliance with Sysco's HSE policies and procedures.
  • Support the establishment of HSE goals for site management and activity-based objectives for leadership and supervisory teams to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Develop a company-wide system for hazard identification and risk evaluation, implementing effective corrective measures.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Provide training for supervisors and management on root cause analysis techniques.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies (OSHA, DOT, EPA, and local authorities).
  • Oversee the completion of an annual HSE training plan across the organization.
  • Foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
  • Assist facilities management in ensuring compliance with regulatory permits and reporting requirements.
  • Achieve annual targets for reducing incident frequency, severity, and associated costs.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and the ability to lead change effectively.
  • Facilitate health, safety, and environmental (HSE) engagement through teams and committees to meet established targets.
  • Promote a zero-incident safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Support the implementation of Sysco's Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in regulations to management.
  • Assist in developing and delivering corporate and site-specific training programs as necessary.
  • Implement early return-to-work initiatives.
  • Manage staff selection, development, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Maintain open communication with associates and monitor morale to enhance engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certifications.
Experience
  • 5-7 years of practical experience in environmental and safety management within warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, or transportation sectors.
  • Extensive experience in occupational safety, transportation safety, and environmental compliance is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Certification in safety (CSP) is preferred or in progress.
  • Additional relevant safety certifications are advantageous.
  • A valid Driver's License and proof of liability coverage are required.
