Lean Operations Manager

As a Lean Operations Manager at Wesco, you will be responsible for driving the implementation and administration of Lean programs, including Six Sigma initiatives. You will enable teams to provide training, tools, and logistical assistance for quality initiatives. Your goal will be to develop sustainable solutions based on the Planning, Doing, Checking, Acting (PDCA) approach, promoting and guiding Lean cultural transformation, and coaching Lean principles and practices at various levels of the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving deployment and execution of continuous improvement
  • Leading the development of new testing tools and measurement methods and systems to ensure products and services meet quality standards
  • Mentoring senior leadership, vice presidents, and directors on their role as leaders and promoters of Lean
  • Providing executive-level updates
  • Developing Wesco associates to be self-sufficient in continuous improvement tools
  • Serving as a catalyst to promote Lean thinking and foster a continuous improvement culture
  • Promoting and supporting Lean self-sufficiency via the application of Lean tools, goal deployment, daily management, VoC, etc.
  • Promoting out-of-the-box thinking and continuously generating new ideas to improve processes, service, efficiency, inventory, cost, and space
  • Assisting in the development of Lean Leaders and through personal example, coaching, mentoring, and training
  • Assisting and advising field teams to achieve agreed-upon performance objectives
  • Leading various events in team settings
  • Selecting and utilizing appropriate Lean tools
  • Aligning activities with corporate goals around safety, quality, delivery, cost (SQDC), performing Root Cause Analysis on gaps, rigorously identifying waste, and working with leadership to drive sustainable corrective action
  • Managing kaizen results and action plans

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Engineering, Logistics, Technical, or equivalent years of related experience required
  • Licenses/Certificates/Designations – PMP, Change Management, or Scrum Master certifications preferred
  • 6 years of experience in extensive Lean leadership, with a medium or large company
  • Highly seasoned and experienced Lean leader or 6 Sigma Black Belt with a proven track record of end-to-end management of key, strategic programs and business segments (e.g., operations, administration, customer-facing)
  • Strong leadership track record – prior experience in managing teams
  • Extensive experience in managing change and transforming a culture to a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong track record of accomplishments
  • Solid project management skills and kaizen event experience from initiation through full implementation
  • Strong process orientation and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with coordinating and optimizing Lean tools (visualization, etc.) applications preferred
  • Ability to travel 25% - 50%
