Job Overview:

This position involves the development of various products to support operational needs and the approval of all documentation related to new development and production hardware that necessitates sheet metal fabrication, forming, and deburring. Additionally, Technical Leaders engage with cross-functional teams to enhance quality, drive continuous improvement, ensure timely delivery, and provide comprehensive training and development for operators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install components such as bolts, nuts, screws, rivets, and other hardware according to customer specifications or engineering blueprints.
  • Remove burrs and polish materials of various types.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe working environment, contributing to the 6S program and Lean methodologies.
  • Adhere to all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Execute all tasks safely and in accordance with company protocols.
  • Set up machinery to form and cut materials using press brakes, presses, and shears based on operational process sheets or drawings.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using necessary tools such as drill presses, belt sanders, orbital sanders, swivel deburr tools, bench grinders, and other hand tools as specified by the operational process sheets.
  • Possess knowledge of various abrasives suitable for different material types.
  • Effectively polish and remove burrs from all material types.
  • Operate grit blast machines and tumblers proficiently.
  • Mark or serialize parts using diverse marking techniques.
  • Utilize sizers, planishers, and a variety of rivet guns competently.
  • Interpret operational process sheets and inspect parts according to character control sheets.
  • Assist in training sheet metal operators across all job aspects.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Capability to read and adhere to company processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong focus, adaptability to change, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in mid-level mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).
  • Familiarity with various inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gage pins, height gages, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently to meet shop order standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of how to check break edges and radii.
  • Knowledge of bending, rolling, and forming various materials including CRS, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Ability to interpret and understand GD&T.
  • Advanced understanding of dimensional prints.
  • Proficient communication and reading skills in English.
  • Green Belt Certification is required.
Technical Leadership Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Assign daily work tasks to operators based on dispatch reports.
  • Responsible for training and documenting operator performance using training forms.
  • Train and validate operators' use of inspection equipment to ensure accuracy aligns with inspection records.
  • Collaborate with engineering team members for timely development and creation of work instructions and acceptable success levels.
  • Review and approve work instructions prior to production launch as per established gates.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Physical Demands:
  • Must be capable of lifting, moving, and transporting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent requirement to remain stationary and reposition oneself to perform tasks.
  • Constant operation of machinery essential for the role.
  • Potential exposure to slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • May encounter physical hazards from moving equipment and machinery.
  • Specific coordination is necessary for operating computers and various equipment.
  • Work may be conducted in close proximity to others.
Visual Acuity:
  • Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected.
  • Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read computer screens and documents.
Hearing Ability:
  • Normal hearing or corrected to normal.
