We are seeking a skilled Aluminum Structural Fitter to join our Quality Support team. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will work closely with Pipe Fitters and welders to achieve maximum production efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural aluminum fabrication tasks, including cutting, sniping, sanding, and grinding, with minimal supervision.
- Work with a team to achieve production goals, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with supervisors and foremen to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct daily work assignments, ensuring completion and quality standards are met.
- Participate in training and development of lower-skilled workers.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a B-Class Fitter at Austal or 2 years in a related industry.
- Pass approved A-Class Fitter Test.
- Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings, job specifications, and instruction manuals.
- Thorough knowledge of equipment, work processes, and techniques used in measuring and fitting of aluminum components.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using the metric system.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels. The ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and navigate uneven surfaces is essential.
Able to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands, utilize personal protective equipment, and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods.
Must be willing to work overtime to support company needs and comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations.
