Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Transplant Surgeon and Educator to join our team at VCU. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transplantation and a passion for teaching and mentoring.

Estimated Salary: $250,000 - $350,000 per year

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide high-quality patient care as a transplant surgeon, including deceased and living donor kidney and liver transplantation, and pancreas transplantation.* Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, residents, and fellows in the field of transplantation.* Establish and conduct clinical research projects with a record of publication in refereed journals and external funding.* Serve on departmental and university committees as necessary, and participate in professional activities such as reviewing manuscripts and organizing conferences.* Contribute to the development and implementation of educational programs and curricula related to transplantation.* Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance the research program in transplantation at VCU.* Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Transplant Surgery or foreign equivalent
  • Affiliation with ASTS Fellowship training in multi-organ transplantation and procurement
  • Licensure to practice medicine in Virginia, and UNOS certification or eligibility
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certification in General Surgery during the course of the appointment

About This Opportunity

This is a full-time position with 12 months of service. The rank is Instructor, and tenure is not eligible. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
