What is a Financial Analyst?

Financial Analysts operate within the Finance and Accounting division, contributing to the formulation of the annual business strategy, budget, and five-year projections.

They evaluate financial data on a monthly basis, conduct analyses that cater to internal client requirements, offer insights to the executive leadership regarding the organization's financial health, and undertake ad hoc tasks as necessary.


Responsibilities of a Financial Analyst:
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget, five-year financial forecast, strategic plan, and corporate business plan along with other financial projections.
  • Prepare monthly and yearly financial forecasts and aid in the upkeep of corporate financial models.
  • Convert business strategies and forecasts into financial plans and projections to ensure the organization meets its financial and operational objectives, recommending corrective actions as required.
  • Create business cases for capital investments and new business ventures.
  • Compile and assess data for the preparation of reports and submissions to regulatory bodies and other external stakeholders.
  • Drive and implement process improvements to promote continuous enhancement.
  • Support special projects and other tasks as needed.
  • Assist with emergency restoration efforts.

Qualifications for a Financial Analyst:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel), and the ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, quantitative, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Capability to thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred:
  • Professional experience in accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Familiarity with financial planning systems (e.g., Tagetik, PowerPlant) and/or forecasting models.
  • MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field.

Compensation:
$51,400 – $124,700.
