Patient Access Representative

In an outpatient and emergency setting, you will be responsible for greeting patients and family members, obtaining and verifying demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information, and registering patients for service delivery. You will also be responsible for entering patient/guarantor data in the patient accounting system, collecting patient signatures on forms, and scanning registration documents.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and process signed physician orders
- Conduct online insurance eligibility/benefit verification on designated cases
- Notify patient/guarantor and collect patient liabilities
- Refer appropriate cases to financial counseling for follow-up and consultation
- Provide escort and directional support to patients, family members, and visitors
- High school diploma required; Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minute)
- One year of applicable experience in a healthcare provider or payer environment preferred
- Fluid experience with various software programs and ability to use multiple systems to obtain or validate information
- Basic computer skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
- Interpersonal skills to deal with internal and external customers
- Accuracy, attentiveness to detail, and time management skills
