Job Summary

Austin Energy is seeking a highly skilled Power System Engineer or Power System Engineer Senior to join our Project Management team. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the Capital Improvement Project portfolio for our Transmission and Substation Engineering and Construction team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate multiple construction projects, including design, permitting, construction, and maintenance of electrical utility transmission and distribution systems, public works, or other civil utility projects.
  • Develop and implement project management plans, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and maintenance, to ensure project success.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, including design, permitting, and construction.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, plus 5-7 years of experience in project management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Project management experience, including PMP certification, is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical utility transmission and distribution systems, public works, or other civil utility projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current PMP certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience managing large, complex projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Experience working with City of Austin Development Services Department and/or local/county/state governmental permitting departments.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with a focus on collaboration and communication.
