Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) at Highmark Health is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery and cardiovascular interventions. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Assess and prioritize patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide education to patients and families on disease management, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, including medical records and billing information.
Requirements:
• Current RN licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
• BLS certification.
• 1-2 years of experience in a critical care setting, preferably in a cardiothoracic ICU.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
