The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Information Technology Center (NITC) is on the lookout for a proactive and resourceful individual to assume the role of an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). This position involves collaboration with a team of adept Information System Security Officers to deliver comprehensive cybersecurity operations, ongoing monitoring, and support for audit, accreditation, and authorization processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough technical and non-technical internal audits and assessments utilizing industry-standard and Department of Defense tools to ensure compliance with system and operational requirements.
  • Document, organize, and implement necessary security control measures.
  • Identify existing and emerging risks, prepare vulnerability testing plans, and coordinate testing and reporting procedures.
  • Assess the effectiveness of implemented security measures to ensure they adequately protect against current and anticipated threats.
  • Engage in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) related to potential cybersecurity incidents and vulnerability management, enhancing understanding of incidents to facilitate corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide cybersecurity expertise and collaborative support to program and project managers, clients, the Information Technology (IT) Department, and other functional support teams.
  • Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining presentations, reports, system/network diagrams, guidelines, and other documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Security+, CASP+, and/or CISSP certification (or equivalent) is required or must be obtained within six months of employment.
