Role Summary

This is a standard student technical role where the student technician will provide assistance to educators in the CEPS classrooms and laboratories. The primary responsibility involves resolving issues related to classroom technology, including video conferencing applications and various audiovisual equipment. Additional responsibilities encompass support for computer lab operations.

Weekly Hours

Hours per week; Monday - Friday, between 8am - 8pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver fundamental technical assistance to educators in classroom environments.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting for extended classroom video conferencing applications.
  • Regularly monitor the open computer lab and provide technical support to student users.
  • Accurately document technical issues for the supervisor.
  • Assist with routine technology challenges under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Offer clerical and general office support as needed.
Enrollment Criteria

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must maintain at least half-time enrollment to qualify for any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is defined as 5 credit hours for graduates and 6 credit hours for undergraduates. International students are required to be enrolled full-time to be eligible for student employment. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees in regular positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours to be eligible for summer work. Students not enrolled in summer courses must be registered for fall classes to work during the summer, and both the student and the department will be subject to FICA taxes. Student employees in FWSP positions must enroll in at least 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours required for graduation is less than the minimum hours needed for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor confirming the number of hours needed to graduate and the anticipated graduation date, which must be submitted to Human Resources. This applies to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Zoom, WebEx, and/or Microsoft Teams is advantageous.
