Position Overview: The Local History Research Specialist at Coordinated Care Services, Inc. (CCSI) is a pivotal role designed to enhance our mission by leveraging expertise in research, grant writing, and promotional strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive investigations into local civil rights history, social justice, and educational equity to support program development and grant submissions.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with historians, academic institutions, librarians, and other custodians of historical knowledge.
  • Collaborate with co-directors to create a research framework that disseminates primary and secondary research among team members, integrating findings into public programs and educational curricula.
  • Identify and assess potential funding sources, including philanthropic foundations, governmental bodies, and corporate sponsors.
  • Provide research assistance for special initiatives, program evaluations, and strategic projects as required.
  • Develop and implement public communication strategies to promote and elevate the profile of Our Local History.
  • Contribute to public-facing publications, including but not limited to newsletters, reports, and press releases.
  • Support management in crafting social media and public communication strategies to enhance public perception and attract new opportunities.
  • Prepare, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation.
  • Work closely with program staff to ensure alignment of project goals with funding opportunities.
  • Maintain a detailed database of funding opportunities, grant submissions, and reporting obligations.
  • Monitor and track the status of submitted proposals, following up with funding agencies as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for funders, ensuring adherence to grant requirements and timelines.
  • Stay informed about trends in grant funding, education, social justice, and civil rights to guide strategic planning and proposal development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential funders and stakeholders, representing Our Local History in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Education, History, Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in writing and securing grant funding.
  • Strong understanding of civil rights history, social justice issues, and culturally responsive education.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of all required background screenings.
  • Valid and current driver's license.
