About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Wastewater Management Coordinator to join our team in the Wastewater Quality Division of the Utilities Department.

As a Wastewater Management Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the Industrial Waste Pretreatment Program and the FOG (Fats, Oils, and Grease) Control Program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations to protect the wastewater treatment infrastructure and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing commercial and industrial wastewater discharge permitting activities;
  • Directing inspections and enforcement of pretreatment standards;
  • Engaging in public education efforts to minimize pollutants entering the wastewater system;
  • Coordinating with industrial and commercial facilities to monitor discharge quality and implement best management practices.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the field of Wastewater Engineering;
  • Knowledge of current and acceptable industrial wastewater concepts;
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry relating to industrial wastewater;
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing industrial waste control;
  • Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques, methods, and principles;
  • Skill in reading and interpreting codes, ordinances, and regulations governing the field of work;
  • Skill in communicating in verbal and written form using tact and diplomacy;
  • Ability to supervise and manage operations of a Wastewater Quality work section;
  • Ability to enforce industrial waste control codes, rules, and regulations;
  • Ability to read and interpret construction standards, building blueprints and technical drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of four (4) years' of hands-on experience in wastewater environmental compliance processes;
  • Minimum of two (2) years' of experience in direct supervision of employees;
  • Minimum of two (2) years' of combined experience in evaluating analytical data;
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a scientific field or at least six (6) consecutive years of relevant experience in roles involving complex regulations and safety protocols.

The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $37,200 and $56,960 per year.
