Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flexible Packaging Converting Lead to join our team at Calyx Containers. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the printing and converting of flexible packaging film into bags and pouches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead a team of film print and converting operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and productivity
    • Establish production processes and train other operators
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance
    • Learn how to operate a state-of-the-art flexible packaging film converting machine
    • Maintain equipment, troubleshoot equipment problems, perform prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment as required and identify repairs if needed
  • Quality Control and Assurance
    • Monitor quality throughout production runs, making adjustments as necessary to maintain consistency and excellence
  • Production Planning and Coordination
    • Coordinate with the production manager and planner/scheduler to schedule and prioritize jobs, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all team members follow safety guidelines and best practices
  • Record Keeping and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate production records, including job logs, material usage, and equipment maintenance reports
  • Process Improvement and Innovation
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency enhancements, and cost reduction. Implement changes when approved
  • Training and Development
    • Conduct training sessions for converting operators, keeping them updated on industry trends, equipment advancements, and best practices
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High School graduate, or completion of GED required
    • A minimum of two years' experience in a print packaging environment. Experience with flexible packaging films is desired
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to travel for training on equipment
    • This position requires an individual who is technically and mechanically oriented with strong attention to detail
    • Perform all work and activities with honesty and integrity
    • Take personal responsibility for productivity, quality, and timeliness of work
    • Ability to follow and train on SOP's
    • Effectively communicate (and listen) clearly, professionally, politely, and persuasively in all situations; respond well and in a reasonable, timely manner
    • Challenge conventional practices and use creativity and information to lead, innovate, problem solve, and implement ideas to contribute to the growth of the organization
    • Support and meet company/department goals and core values
    • Collaborate with co-workers to achieve common goals
