Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our team at Houston Engineering, Inc. as a Transportation Systems Designer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing transportation systems that improve the lives of thousands of people in your community, county, and state.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior-level engineers to develop and implement transportation projects, including traffic planning, roadway and railway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, erosion control, and environmental clearance coordination.
  • Perform redlines on project drawings, pull technical reports, and complete quantity calculations and assist with project cost estimates.
  • Work effectively with project teams, including CAD designers, engineers, and subcontractors to complete projects safely, on time, and with high quality.
  • Assist in client contact and communications, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • May include onsite construction observation duties during the construction phase of projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related Engineering degree.
  • 0-3 years of experience in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in the design and construction of state DOT and county highway projects preferred.
  • Experience operating MicroStation, Geopak, and/or AutoCAD preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
