Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Network Technician to join our team at altafiber. As a key member of our Field Operations I&R group, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing fiber plant for both Installs and Repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair fiber plant for both Installs and Repairs
  • Review and interpret work orders, circuit diagrams, and follow departmental standard practices
  • Analyze complex schematic drawings to determine work to be done and sequence of tasks
  • Use various test and power equipment, and hand tools to identify and isolate service issues from the Central Office through the outside network plant
  • Install and repair fiber to the Business services
  • Install and repair video, voice, and data services for strategic, large, and general businesses
  • Perform installation and repair functions for Broadband service and WIFI Hotspots
  • Perform installation and repair of Static IP, IP assignment, and related management
  • Install and repair wired and wireless networking
  • Perform various business services and features, such as hunting, Line/Number Porting, etc.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in the installation/repair of business communication and data systems
  • Demonstrated experience in the installation or repair of VOIP systems
  • Demonstrated experience in customer premise inside wire repair and replacement
  • Demonstrated experience in use of test equipment and interpretation of test results
  • Demonstrated experience in the repair of High Speed Internet and video services
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in use of a PC and desktop applications
  • Demonstrated experience with wired and wireless networking
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in all types of weather and customer environments. You may be required to climb poles and drive a company vehicle. You must be trained and/or certified in safe pole climbing.
