Job Summary:

The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin is seeking a highly skilled Neurosurgeon to join our team as a Critical Care Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse group of neurosurgeons who provide primary, secondary, and tertiary inpatient and outpatient care for Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

The successful candidate will join a world-class institution that encourages, values, and supports interdisciplinary basic, clinical, and population health research. They will be part of the Neuro ICU team, working alongside physicians from neurosurgery, neurology, and emergency medicine.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position with a mix of clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide 24/7 onsite attending physician services in the Neuro ICU
  • Participate in surgery, outpatient clinics, and attending services on neurosurgery inpatient and consult services
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Contribute to professional, public, and university service, as well as administrative and committee work
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • A terminal degree (MD, DO, or MD/PhD)
  • Clinical and research interest in neurocritical care
  • Clinical and research interest in spine neurosurgery (preferred)
  • Board eligibility or certification by the time of appointment
  • Credentialing with UW Health managed care plans and staff privileges at UW Hospital, UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital, and William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital
