Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Step Down ICU, you will provide direct nursing care to patients requiring complex assessments and interventions. You will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to develop and implement individualized care plans, promoting optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Obtain comprehensive patient data to develop a holistic understanding of patient needs or conditions.
  • Analyze and synthesize data to determine diagnoses or conditions relevant to care.
  • Identify optimal patient outcomes in collaboration with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, employing strategies to promote and maintain a safe environment.
  • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluating own practice and maintaining current knowledge and competence.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice, collaborating with patients, families, and interprofessional teams.
  • Use clinical inquiry and integrate best evidence into practice.
  • Apply existing evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to critical care nursing practice.
Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
