Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Deputy City Engineer is responsible for overseeing, planning, and executing professional and technical civil engineering tasks. This includes the design, assessment, inspection, and construction of various municipal projects such as streets, storm drainage systems, sanitary sewer systems, parks, irrigation systems, and water facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and maintain high standards of work quality and accuracy.
- Maintain comprehensive work records and serve as a technical resource for team members.
- Manage the work activities of division staff, providing guidance and support.
- Engage in complex design and construction of capital improvement projects.
- Review private development projects for compliance with design standards and accuracy.
- Undertake intricate engineering assignments requiring extensive knowledge of civil engineering principles, including land development and construction regulations.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in Civil Engineering, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.
- Valid certification as a Civil Engineer in the State of California.
- Valid class C California driver's license or the ability to obtain one.

Examination Process:
Applicants will undergo a selection process that may include:
- Application Package Review (Qualifying Only)
- Oral Interview (100% Weight Value). A minimum score of 70% is required to be considered for the eligibility list.
