About the Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will leverage your expertise to research, design, model, simulate, test, and enhance innovative products and services. Your responsibilities will include developing intricate system architectures within contextual modeling frameworks, guiding them from operational concepts through detailed design, simulation, and testing using advanced tools. You will hold system-level accountability for new products and processes throughout their lifecycle.

Sierra Space's Orbital Missions and Services (OMS) division is dedicated to the design, construction, and operation of small satellites, supporting both commercial services and national security objectives.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer III – Mission Analyst to contribute to our OMS team. In this role, you will define mission parameters and derive essential mission requirements as part of a novel spacecraft development initiative, utilizing mission-level modeling and simulation techniques. You will also create constellation models to assess mission performance metrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering or a related field, with 2 to 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
  • Knowledge of requirements management, systems design, integration, technical risk management, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.
  • An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Mission and System Modeling and Simulation, including analysis and documentation of results.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard system and mission modeling tools and languages, such as STK, Cameo EA, SysML, Matlab, and Python.
  • Ability to derive requirements from system modeling and simulation outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical experts in capturing requirements and architecture data.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to tackle complex challenges.
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience with DoD modeling environments.
  • Ability to independently research and develop mission analysis tools for novel challenges.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering activities, successfully completing design milestones.
  • Certification in INCOSE standards is a plus.

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs regularly.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive hand and finger motions.
  • Occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Rare exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Minimal exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Limited exposure to loud noises.
