Perioperative Services Support Technician

The Perioperative Services Support Technician is a vital member of the North Oaks Medical Center team, responsible for providing technical assistance and coordination of equipment, supplies, and instruments before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and one to three years of related experience or training.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the care, handling, storage, and transportation of professional supplies and equipment.
Pull supplies and equipment for scheduled surgical cases.
Adhere to operating room standards on aseptic technique and infection control.
Operate video camera and monitoring equipment during procedures requiring video.
Notify Bio-Med Tech and OR Manager of equipment malfunctioning.
Participate in unit meetings and assist OR personnel in turnover of OR rooms.
Maintain and restock OR supplies.
Assist OR personnel during procedures, positioning patients, moving patients, and obtaining supplies or equipment.
Collect specimens, record in logbook, and transport to pathology at specified times.
Organize and maintain required OR related forms.
Assist with washing, decontamination, and returning equipment to storage areas.
Maintain sterile technique according to protocol.
Assist surgeon in retraction as directed by physician.
Assist with ambulation of surgery unit patients.
Assist with cleaning OR transport stretchers and maintaining cleanliness in the Operating room.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
One to three years of related experience or training.
Ability to demonstrate competency in age-specific criteria as applicable to job scope.
Knowledge of hospital safety-related codes and ability to perform duties in drills and actual emergencies.
Basic knowledge in PACS and ability to identify patient file as requested by MD for use during procedure.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patients and departments.
Adherence to North Oaks Health System's Compliance programs and all Federal and State regulatory guidelines.
Working Conditions
This role requires heavy pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and working in a fast-paced environment. The Perioperative Services Support Technician must be able to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends, and be available for emergency services as needed.
