Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Radiology Tech to join our team at West Virginia University Hospitals. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures, utilizing sterile and aseptic technique.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquire and process imaging data, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Provide emergency services on call, responding to critical situations with professionalism and expertise.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other lab personnel to ensure seamless procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and document all procedures accurately.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, remaining available for emergent procedures 24/7.
  • Act as the laboratory's code team, initiating resuscitative measures and cardiac defibrillators under physician supervision.
  • Document all procedures and utilize inventory control systems for accurate billing.
  • Participate in educational and in-service opportunities to maintain specialization in Neuroradiology and Vascular IR procedures.
  • Contribute to performance improvement activities, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography.
  • Radiologist Technologist through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners, or applicable state where services will be performed.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift 40 pounds, and differentiate shades of gray.
Working Environment

The work environment is clinical, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, and risk of radiation. The noise level is moderate, and radiation safety is maintained.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate with physicians and peers on a professional level.
  • Knowledgeable in sterile technique, imaging acquisition, and transmission.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and operating manuals.
Additional Information

This is a Monday-to-Friday position, with occasional on-call requirements. The call back time is 30 minutes, and IR covers both vascular and neuro services.
