Role Summary & Qualifications
Role Summary: Under the supervision of the Access Manager, the Library Aide is responsible for the effective handling and distribution of library resources while providing fundamental customer support.
This position is located at the Midwest City Library.
The compensation for this role is set at $15.00 per hour. This is a part-time role requiring approximately 20 hours of work each week and is not categorized as seasonal employment. This position adheres to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Completion of at least one year of high school (9th grade); and
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Basic understanding of library functions, policies, and procedures.
- Proficient typing or keyboard skills for data entry and retrieval using computer systems.
- Ability to organize files alphabetically and numerically, with good spelling and basic arithmetic skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
The selected candidate must demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, with availability for days, evenings, and weekends, totaling approximately 20 hours weekly. Current scheduling needs include:
Wednesday 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Thursday 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Friday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Saturday 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM based on library requirements.
