Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our team at our newest interim housing project in downtown Los Angeles. As an LCSW, you will play a vital role in providing essential support and care to residents, helping them regain their footing and transition to permanent housing. You will work closely with a dedicated team of professionals to deliver counseling, individualized care planning, case management, and linkages to social services, housing resources, and other essential support systems.

Principal Responsibilities

  2. Conduct functional and strength-based assessments along with comprehensive diagnoses for mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and psychosocial needs.
  3. Develop student care plans that are coordinated and integrated with a comprehensive range of medical and psychosocial services to address social, emotional, and practical needs.
  4. Provide psychotherapy, counseling, medical case management, and psycho-education utilizing individual, family, and group modalities using evidence-based interventions for patients and their significant others.
  5. Utilize both short-term and intensive longer-term interventions, as approved by funding source, to target trauma, mental health symptoms, increase psychosocial functioning, and reduction of substance use.
  6. Consult with primary care providers to enhance understanding of the patient, provide support for treatment approaches that incorporate behavioral health needs, and assist with implementation of bio-psychosocial treatment and care plans.
  7. Work with ECM Case Management staff to coordinate care and provide referrals, coordinate services, and reduce barriers.
  8. Be available to primary medical care staff during working hours for crisis intervention in the event of a psychiatric emergency and assist staff in the event of any other kind of emergency.
  9. Provide phone consultation as needed.
  10. Support client involvement in planning, implementing, and evaluating services.
  11. Assist with provider education for integrated behavioral and primary care services.
  12. Participate in behavioral health quality assurance/improvement activities to maintain and strengthen standards of care, in accordance with the organization's CQI Plan.
Requirements

We are seeking a highly qualified LCSW with a Master's degree in social work, social welfare, psychology, marriage, family and child counseling, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire and documented experience working with college students, many of whom are older adults returning to college or at high risk of being unhoused. Experience/knowledge in human, social, and/or behavioral health services, especially with college students, is highly desirable. The candidate should also have a demonstrated understanding of the impact of trauma-informed care, person-centered care, and behavioral and medical conditions impacting this population. Knowledge of evidence-based treatments (DBT, CBT, Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing) is also required. Knowledge of principles, procedures, methods, and techniques of mental health emergency procedures, such as 5150, CPS reporting, APS reporting, and Tarasoff reporting, is necessary. Experience working with substance abuse disorders is preferred, as is bilingual (English/Spanish) ability.
