The Clinical Pharmacist is a licensed professional responsible for ensuring safe and effective patient care. This role involves adhering to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as meeting the standards set by regulatory organizations. The Clinical Pharmacist will engage in medication management tasks, which include analyzing, verifying, monitoring, compounding, and dispensing medications. This individual will act as the medication management authority, providing precise drug information to healthcare providers, nursing staff, and other clinical team members. Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacist will oversee pharmacy technicians during their shifts and contribute to the training and education of pharmacy personnel. Collaboration with colleagues and delivering exceptional customer service to both patients and staff is essential. Other responsibilities may encompass quality improvement initiatives and additional tasks as designated by Pharmacy Leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Advocate for and support the efforts of all healthcare providers to ensure high-quality patient care. Uphold the delivery of quality care in alignment with professional practice standards. Maintain personal competence and promote adherence to professional standards through ongoing education and training. Collaborate with management in the development and assessment of new services and programs. Supervise pharmacy personnel and provide pharmaceutical care and services, serving as a role model through effective change management strategies. Ensure compliance with cleanroom standards and the accuracy of medication inventory and IV compounded products. Stay informed about USP 797 & 800 guidelines and work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure adherence. Maintain annual competencies for Pharmacy Technician IV compounding. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to meet organizational objectives and customer service standards. Engage in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills. Manage the efficient use of resources and staff, serving as a mentor in training initiatives. Encourage participation in performance improvement activities to foster continuous enhancement in care delivery. Demonstrate the integration of core organizational values in daily performance. Monitor and recommend more effective drug therapies when necessary. Prepare and dispense medications in strict accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of an ACPE-accredited Pharmacy School or a school with pending ACPE accreditation. Current California Pharmacist License. BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
