Job Description:

As a Pharmacist (Full or Part Time) at Walgreens, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and promoting healthy lifestyles in our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pharmacy consulting services to patients, offering guidance on medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare services.
  • Offer clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services, to promote health and wellness.
  • Ensure the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Support the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assist the pharmacy manager in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management, and patient experience.

Customer Experience:

Engage patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues in a timely manner and answering questions to ensure a positive patient experience.

Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful experience, including interpersonal habits that show care and Walgreens service traits.

Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, supporting efforts to enhance patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens.

Participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business, enhance growth opportunities, and provide more joyful lives through better health.

Operations:

Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical providers as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service.

Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management, ensuring the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards.

Assist the pharmacy manager with establishing procedures that promote the efficient workflow of the pharmacy, including assigning roles, coordinating activities, and soliciting team member suggestions.

Responsible for the opening and closing of the pharmacy and shift change duties, ensuring the use of all elements of the Good Faith Dispensing policy in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions.

People & Performance Management:

Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, reinforcing the direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering team member development.

Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision.

Training & Personal Development:

Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations to provide such clinical services.

Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications, maintaining awareness of developments in retail and management and pursuing best practices that would enhance performance.

Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the Company.
