Visual Arts Support Specialist
Job Description
Visual Arts Support Specialists play a crucial role in assisting photographers with the preparation, execution, and management of photoshoots both in studio settings and on location. A strong enthusiasm for photography and a desire to learn are essential traits for this position. Collaboration with the Art and Prop departments is also a key aspect of the role. Key responsibilities include:
- Setting up and dismantling photography sets, which encompasses lighting, camera gear, and props.
- Substituting for photographers during shooting sessions.
- Organizing studio spaces before and after each session.
- Providing support to Photographers, Prop Stylists, and Art Directors throughout the day.
50% - Setup / Dismantling of Photography Sets
35% - Assisting Photographers / Studio Management
15% - Commercial Photography Engagement
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
A degree in Photography is preferred; however, relevant experience and a portfolio may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
Prior internship experience in photography or assisting photographers is advantageous.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and listening abilities.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and a willingness to work flexible hours.
- A positive demeanor and openness to receiving guidance from others.
- Capability to lift and transport heavy equipment such as C-stands or surfaces.
- Proficiency in using Capture One and Photoshop.
