Job Summary

The Safety Engineer is a critical member of the project team, responsible for supporting the safety manager in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of safety policies and procedures, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera, and AutoDesk Suite. Fluency in Spanish is also required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the project superintendent in maintaining and managing the accident prevention plan, safety management tool, and crisis management plan.
  • Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process, including reviewing activity hazard analyses and conducting follow-up inspections.
  • Conduct project safety audits, including reviewing project point files.
  • Assist with OSHA inspections and accident/near miss events, including investigations, injury management, and claim reporting.
  • Monitor Hensel Phelps and trade partner safety performance.
  • Attend awareness and competent person level courses.
