Senior Research and Development Engineer/Research Faculty

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our Imaging Science and Computer Vision Department as a Department Head. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring and supervising department personnel, leading programs and teams, and collaborating with geospatial imagery analysts to advance the discovery and modeling of associations, trends, patterns, and system dynamics.
Key Responsibilities- Mentor and Supervise Department Personnel: Balance project objectives with continuous learning and professional growth.
- Lead Programs and Teams: Be part of a highly collaborative leadership team and lead collaborations with geospatial imagery analysts.
- Develop Processes and Algorithms: Transform traditional GEOINT imagery and open-source data into spatio-temporal information describing places, events, and activities.
- Model Physics of Remote Sensing Systems: Associate real-world objects to known signatures and doctrines.
- Develop Automated Analytics: Apply the scientific method across multiple disciplines to advance Image Science and Computer Vision.
- Lead Experiment-Driven Applied Research: Develop geospatial algorithms while collaborating among diverse domains.
- Grow Career and Capabilities: Plan and conduct applied research, provide technical guidance and oversight, and lead large research efforts.
- Leadership Experience: Ability to lead diverse teams and be an excellent team member.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, be dependable, responsive, curious, collaborative, and have high interpersonal skills.
- Research Experience: Significant experience as a Principal Investigator on DoD/IC research programs and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Technical Skills: Relevant experience in a field directly applicable or highly related to Data Sciences, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Geospatial Sciences.
- Programming Skills: Experience with computer programming in one or more of the following: Python, R, Java, C++, or Matlab.
- DoD/IC Experience: Experience working within DoD/IC Analysis or Operational environments.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Git, GUI development, open-source scientific computation, computer vision, physics modeling, or machine learning tools.
