Position: Day Services Skills Instructor

We are looking for a committed individual to become part of our team as a Day Services Skills Instructor. In this role, you will facilitate developmental skills training through engaging recreational and therapeutic activities, as well as promote community integration to create a supportive learning atmosphere. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the health and safety of the individuals we support while implementing their personalized Day Habilitation Service plans.

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in identifying and formulating goals and plans to address their specific concerns, desires, or needs.
  • Provide continuous support through personal care, guidance, and positive role modeling.
  • Work collaboratively with the Case Manager to deliver developmental skills training, which includes self-care, self-preservation, communication skills, self-direction, daily living activities, hygiene, grooming, and first aid.
  • Partner with the Case Manager to develop and execute a comprehensive written therapeutic service plan (DHSP) for each assigned individual.
  • Complete all necessary documentation that supports the DHSP.
  • Adopt a proactive approach focused on individual advocacy, empowerment, and community integration.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, along with one year of experience in a training program for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of and experience serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to interact effectively with individuals, families, funding sources, consultants, and the broader community.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary, along with access to a reliable and insured vehicle for transporting individuals.
