About the Role

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I to join the Heung Laboratory in the Women's Guild Lung Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in the field of pulmonary research.

The Research Associate I will assist in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies, filing and monitoring documents, and keeping accurate records of experiments and results. This role will also involve the operation of specialized equipment and machinery, as well as observing safety standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with animal husbandry and maintenance of lab equipment and related records.
  • Transport, process, and log samples, and maintain computer database with relevant clinical information.
  • Perform lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization, and maintain stocks of general lab materials.
  • Assist new students and fellows at the laboratory, and perform a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures.
  • Keep accurate and detailed project records of experiments and results.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Organize and maintain mouse lines, and perform animal work including infections, injections, and tissue harvest.
  • Assist other researchers as assigned, and perform tasks such as tissue culture, preparation of microbial cultures, ELISA, Western blotting, quantitative RT-PCR, flow cytometry, immunohistochemical and quantitative analysis of tissue samples.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science related field, required.
  • Prior experience handling and breeding mice is preferred.
  • Knowledge of routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization.
  • Ability to work independently and to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with attention to details.
  • Must possess digital literacy in Excel and Word.
