Job Overview

Position Title: Aircraft Plane Captain

Location: Fallon, NV

Role Summary:

The Aircraft Plane Captain is responsible for executing aircraft management, maintenance, and operational inspections as mandated. This role includes conducting pre-flight evaluations and fueling ground support apparatus, as well as providing technical guidance and training to team members in the Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assumes responsibilities of the Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper roles.
  • Conducts daily and turnaround inspections in accordance with established protocols.
  • Completes necessary maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Performs aircraft fuel sampling and servicing as per established guidelines.
  • Manages the launch and recovery of aircraft.
  • Acts as the aircraft taxi director during launch and recovery operations.
  • Tows aircraft and serves as the brake rider when necessary.
  • Secures and protects aircraft using established procedures.
  • Provides technical support, guidance, and training as needed.
  • Utilizes two-way communication devices as required.
  • Ensures adherence to Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
  • Maintains compliance with all relevant safety and industrial regulations applicable to the role.
  • Safeguards government and company-owned equipment.
  • Delivers professional and courteous customer service.
  • Operates portable firefighting equipment as necessary.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization within the work area.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in aviation maintenance or flight line operations.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Must meet all government and company licensing, qualification, certification, and clearance requirements for the position.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English, following both verbal and written instructions.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant safety and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft flight line operations, handling, servicing, marshaling, and safety protocols.
  • Physical capability to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and lift weights up to 70 pounds.
  • Must possess good vision, including color vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to hear within the normal range.
  • Completion of a training program and certification as a plane captain is required, with re-qualification every six months.
  • Must be qualified on all assigned T/M/S.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and schedules as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, and/or MH60 is highly desirable.
  • Completion of Hazardous Waste Communications Training.
  • Training in FOD and TCP Awareness.
  • ISO Program Awareness certification.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Licensing on support equipment such as tow tractors and nitrogen servicing carts.
  • Ability to handle hazardous materials as part of job duties.
  • Proficient in hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • May require the use of a respirator.
