ROLE PURPOSE:

The Grocery Clerk role offers a comprehensive introduction to the grocery retail sector, focusing on delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include assisting customers on the sales floor and at checkout, as well as mastering specialized areas such as produce and deli services. This position is physically demanding, requiring tasks such as pricing, stocking, and merchandise rotation. Success in this role hinges on a genuine care for enhancing the shopping experience and a willingness to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize customer satisfaction in all interactions, ensuring prompt and friendly service.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to the assigned work schedule.
  • Dress in accordance with company standards, maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Comply with safety protocols and regulations at all times.
  • Greet customers proactively and assist them with their needs.
  • Accurately handle cash transactions and follow cash management procedures.
  • Assist in the receiving and verification of merchandise deliveries.
  • Ensure proper product rotation and maintain cleanliness in all areas.
  • Be aware of and report any inventory discrepancies or issues.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment through effective communication and cooperation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The role is situated in a climate-controlled grocery setting, with occasional exposure to refrigerated areas. The work environment is designed to ensure safety and efficiency while serving our valued customers.
