Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing technical and administrative supervision of the Electric Distribution Design group. The successful candidate will provide Distribution Design support in areas of technical and managerial complexity, perform billable work for clients within their area of expertise, and serve as the lead interface for the group with other company departments, outside consultants, clients, contractors, suppliers, and others on technically related matters.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervise the electric utility distribution design efforts and provide support for Project Managers and others as appropriate.
  2. Responsible for working with Project Management in preparing and coordinating proposals, schedules, and budget estimates for client activities. Assign and schedule work as required to meet client requirements, assuring the highest quality and most efficient use of resources.
  3. Responsible for managing the electric utility Distribution Design group to meet or exceed profitability and quality performing targets.
  4. Take a lead role in building the Distribution Design group by hiring employees, marketing services, and providing outstanding service to clients.
  5. Serve as a resource to the Company's business development contact person with clients and partners.
  6. Must have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to communicate and negotiate effectively with clients, agencies, and the general public.
  7. Responsible for complete and accurate record keeping of all work performed by the Distribution Design group.
  8. Responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control on all work performed by the Distribution Design group.
  9. Must have excellent PC skills with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and a working knowledge of CAD-based programs.
  10. A strong knowledge and experience of electric utility distribution design and work management software are desired.
  11. Serve on industry committees and association groups as appropriate.
  12. Must be able to travel as necessary to support work.
  13. Administer company policies, salary administration, training, safety (both company and client), employee development, and performance evaluations for the employees of the Distribution Design group.
  14. Approve timesheets and expenses for direct reports.
  15. Achieve weekly billable goal as defined by the project guidelines.
  16. Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Director as needed.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum Associate Degree in Engineering (Power Delivery preferred) with 5+ years senior/lead design experience.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in engineering preferred, a plus.
  3. TRC Management may consider other education and work experience to be acceptable for appointment to this position.
  4. Additional client-specific requirements may apply.
  5. Demonstrates supervisory and leadership skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively market Distribution Design services outside the company.
  6. Expected to provide excellent client service, be innovative, and maintain a high level of integrity.
  7. Demonstrates strong understanding of electric distribution construction standards and practices and able to navigate and understand utility maps and design plans.
  8. Possesses an extensive knowledge of field measurement devices, survey equipment, and software applications.
  9. Proficient use and knowledge of computers and software applications desired (MS Office products).
  10. Must be self-driven and able to multi-task.

  12. Must have clear and valid driver's license; Must be at least 21 years of age to drive on company time, including personal and company vehicle.
