Position Overview:

The MRI Imaging Specialist II operates advanced magnetic resonance imaging systems to generate detailed cross-sectional images of patients' anatomy for diagnostic evaluation. Working under the guidance of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, this role allows for independent decision-making and creativity while performing essential technological functions to guarantee the highest diagnostic quality in patient care through safe and efficient practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts patient imaging studies following established protocols, ensuring proper placement of coils near the area of interest.Utilizes imaging and ancillary equipment to deliver quality diagnostic services, including inputting commands for scan sequences, adjusting transmitters and receivers, and entering data for image capture.Engages with patients to explain MRI procedures, addressing their concerns with professionalism, courtesy, and composure.Prioritizes safety for patients and staff by explaining safety protocols, ensuring the removal of hazardous metallic objects, alerting personnel to potential dangers, and monitoring patients through closed-circuit television.Facilitates the orientation and training of new hires, including MRI Technologists, students, and trainees.Provides training and guidance to MRI Technologist I staff in MRI procedures.May oversee and instruct other MRI personnel in the absence of the MRI Supervising Technologist.Performs additional related duties as required.Supervisory Role:This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of continuous, recent experience as an MRI Technologist, demonstrating full proficiency in all responsibilities expected of an MRI Technologist II to the satisfaction of the department manager.Education

High School Diploma or GED.Licenses and Certifications

Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) to be obtained within six months of hireBasic Life Support certificationAdditional Requirements:

Proven ability to teach and mentor other Technologists.May be tasked with directing, checking, and training other MRI staff.Must exhibit full proficiency in MRI practices to the satisfaction of the department manager and possess knowledge of necessary protocols for complex MRI procedures.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group settings to clients and colleagues.Willingness to work within a Labor Management Partnership environment.Refer to the Position Specifications outlined in the relevant collective bargaining agreement.Preferred Qualifications:

ARRT certification is preferred.
