Position Summary

The Cardiovascular Radiographer embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts all radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures related to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, as well as general diagnostic imaging for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Assists in obtaining hemodynamic data and digital angiograms, supporting patient care activities in line with industry standards and departmental protocols.
  • Evaluates requests for radiographic services and assesses patients to determine the appropriate procedural protocols.
  • Utilizes imaging systems and accessory devices effectively to produce high-quality radiographic and fluoroscopic images.
  • Performs interventional radiographic procedures with a focus on patient care and safety.
  • Ensures patient comfort and privacy throughout procedures, adhering to department and hospital standards.
  • Participates in the safe lifting and transportation of patients to and from imaging devices.
  • Reviews and assesses resultant images for quality, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Documents imaging procedures electronically, maintaining accurate records.
  • Positions patients appropriately to optimize imaging while ensuring their comfort.
  • Maintains aseptic principles throughout all procedures.
  • Monitors supply levels in imaging rooms, ensuring timely reordering and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions and performance irregularities to supervisory personnel promptly.
  • Conducts imaging procedures in accordance with safe practices and ethical standards.
  • Adheres to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
  • Effectively manages patients during imaging procedures, considering their cognitive and emotional needs.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's degree in Applied Sciences.
  • ARRT certification, IDNS License, and BCLS Certification.
  • Compliance with continuing education requirements of credentialing agencies.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
