POSITION OVERVIEW
Accountable for the comprehensive care of patients undergoing wound management and hyperbaric therapy, which encompasses nursing competencies, wound care procedures, and intravenous therapy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Executes nursing responsibilities within the Registered Nurse scope of practice.
- Conducts initial clinical evaluations during the patient's first visit for wound care and modifies the care plan based on the patient's evolving condition under physician guidance.
- Collaborates with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to create a comprehensive care plan.
- Prepares hyperbaric chambers in alignment with safety and operational protocols, completing necessary pre- and post-treatment checklists.
- Evaluates patients to ensure adherence to safety protocols during wound care and hyperbaric treatments.
- Continuously observes patients receiving treatment in hyperbaric chambers.
- Adheres to established policies for the cleaning and decontamination of hyperbaric chambers.
- Educates patients and their families about the department's layout and procedures.
- Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients, grounded in evidence-based nursing standards.
- Develops individualized care plans tailored to the patient's needs upon admission.
- Responds promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions or treatment responses.
- Analyzes patient data to identify age-specific needs and deliver appropriate care.
- Ensures all diagnostic tests conducted between visits are documented and communicated to the physician as necessary.
- Addresses patient and family inquiries, directing concerns to the appropriate director or patient advocate as needed.
- Accurately documents orders and notes in a timely manner.
- Ensures proper documentation of patient charges.
- Employs an interdisciplinary approach to meet the patient's needs.
- Continuously assesses and monitors patient conditions, contacting the physician when necessary.
- Develops a teaching plan based on identified educational needs, evaluating its effectiveness and involving family members in the teaching process as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Texas.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare professionals is required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within six months of hire.
Preferred: Two years of general healthcare experience.
Previous experience in hyperbaric medicine is preferred.
Completion of an introductory course in hyperbarics is preferred and required within six months of hire.
Required Skills
Exceptional communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Proficiency in additional languages is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Job Requirements:
Includes, but is not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity and repetitive hand and finger motions. Must have good vision and hearing capabilities. May require pushing and pulling of equipment.

Job entails occasional heavy lifting.
