Substitute Nurse

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District is seeking a qualified Substitute Nurse to provide direct care to students and staff under the clinical supervision of the district nurse (RN) and campus nurse.

• Implement district school health programs and provide direct services to meet the needs of students and staff.
• Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures.
• Take vital signs and communicate findings to required district staff and parents.
• Maintain accurate student health records, including immunization records, medication administration records, and individual student treatment records.
• Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of Health rules, State Board of Education rules, and Board policy in health services areas.

• Valid Texas certification
• Acceptable background check and fingerprinting results
• Knowledge/Certification of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills

Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
