Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Amusement Ride Technician is responsible for conducting inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a diverse range of amusement rides and attractions. Key responsibilities encompass the upkeep of various mechanical systems including gearboxes, chains, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, wire ropes, and braking systems. Safety while working at heights is a critical aspect of this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts routine inspections of amusement rides and associated equipment, identifying and addressing issues as they arise. Inspections include both visual and auditory assessments.
  • Performs both scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, as well as repairs and testing of rides and equipment. This may involve the replacement of major components such as hydraulic cylinders, gears, and other mechanical devices.
  • Diagnoses mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical system issues, implementing appropriate corrective measures.
  • Adheres to established repair protocols and maintains thorough documentation of all maintenance activities. Ensures accurate records of inspections and repairs are kept and submitted promptly.
  • Effectively communicates the status of assigned rides through both verbal and written reports.
  • Maintains all equipment in a safe and operational state, complying with all relevant codes, regulations, and company policies. Works efficiently and safely on all tasks, collaborating with team members as necessary.
  • May perform additional tasks based on experience, including welding and fabrication, and operates various metalworking machinery.
  • Interprets and applies information from manufacturer manuals for service and repairs, and accurately reads mechanical and hydraulic blueprints.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience, ideally in an industrial or amusement context.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical principles, including gear ratios and proper tool usage.
  • Familiarity with common power transmission components such as bearings and couplers.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work safely at heights up to 300 feet.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check, as required.
  • Valid State Driver's License is mandatory.
