Job Overview

The **Ride Maintenance Technician** is responsible for conducting thorough inspections, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and executing repairs on a diverse range of amusement rides and attractions. Key responsibilities encompass the upkeep of various mechanical systems including gearboxes, chains, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and more. Safety while working at heights is a critical aspect of this role.


Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting routine inspections of amusement rides and associated equipment, identifying and rectifying issues as they arise. Inspections involve both visual and auditory assessments.
  • Executing scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, along with inspecting, repairing, and testing rides and equipment. This may involve the repair or replacement of significant components such as hydraulic cylinders, gears, and other mechanical devices.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, implementing necessary corrective measures.
  • Adhering to established repair protocols and maintaining precise documentation of all maintenance activities. Keeping organized records of inspections and repairs, and submitting required reports in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicating the status of assigned rides through both verbal and written updates.
  • Ensuring all equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition, complying with applicable regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Performing additional tasks based on experience, which may include welding and fabrication, as well as operating metalworking machinery.
  • Interpreting and applying information from manufacturer manuals for service and repairs, as well as accurately reading mechanical and hydraulic blueprints.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • 2 to 4 years of proven experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within an industrial or amusement context.
  • Solid understanding of basic mechanical principles, including gear ratios and the proper use of hand tools.
  • Familiarity with various types of bearings, bushings, and power transmission components.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.
  • Capability to work safely at heights, utilizing ladders and platforms.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test and background check, in accordance with company policy.
  • A valid State Driver's License is required.
