Position Summary:
The Amusement Ride Technician is responsible for conducting inspections, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and executing repairs on a diverse range of amusement rides and attractions. Key responsibilities encompass the upkeep of components such as gearboxes, chains, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, wire ropes, hoists, brakes, pumps, and large bearings. The role requires climbing and working safely at heights, which is a critical aspect of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine inspections of amusement rides and associated equipment, addressing any identified issues promptly. Inspections include both visual and auditory assessments.
- Performs both scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance, inspecting, repairing, and testing rides and equipment. This may involve the repair or replacement of significant components, including hydraulic cylinders, gears, chains, and brakes.
- Troubleshoots various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, implementing appropriate corrective measures.
- Adheres to established repair protocols and maintains comprehensive documentation of all repairs and inspections, ensuring timely submission of required paperwork.
- Effectively communicates the status of assigned rides through both verbal and written reports.
- Ensures all assigned equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition, complying with relevant codes, laws, and company policies.
- May perform additional tasks based on experience, including welding and fabrication, as well as operating metalworking machinery.
- Interprets and applies information from manufacturer manuals for service and repair, and accurately reads mechanical and hydraulic blueprints.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- 2 to 4 years of verifiable experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within an industrial or amusement context.
- Solid understanding of basic mechanical principles, including gear ratios and proper tool usage.
- Familiarity with various types of bearings, bushings, and power transmission components.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.
- Capability to work safely at heights, utilizing ladders and platforms.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must pass a mandatory drug test and background check, if applicable.
- A valid State Driver's License is required.
