Potbelly Corporate, a leading sandwich shop chain with over 400 locations across the United States, is seeking a motivated and results-driven Shift Leader to join their team. As a Shift Leader at Potbelly, you will be responsible for leading a team of associates to deliver outstanding customer service, product quality, and sales results.


About the Opportunity

The Shift Leader role is a key position in the restaurant, responsible for managing and developing associates to achieve excellent customer satisfaction, product quality, and sales performance. As a Shift Leader, you will be expected to:

  • Lead team members on shifts, ensuring efficient assignment of tasks and providing constructive feedback to enhance performance.
  • Implement security procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Count drawers and adhere to daily cash handling protocols to maintain accuracy and prevent losses.
  • Prepare high-quality finished products efficiently, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Restock food lines, chips, and coolers to maintain inventory levels.
  • Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and utensils, as well as take out trash.
  • Operate the cash register, handling, balancing, and following cash handling procedures accurately.
  • Effectively handle customer complaints and issues in a professional and courteous manner.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a self-motivated and customer-focused individual with:

  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and product quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Basic math skills and accuracy when handling cash and operating a cash register.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8-9 hours or as needed and lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment.
  • Meet Illinois food safety certification requirements or be willing to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
