Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Northwest Special Recreation Association. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing programs for individuals with disabilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in therapeutic recreation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently. A Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field is required, along with current National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRC) or the ability to become certified within 6 months of being hired.

The Recreation Therapist will work closely with the Manager of Special Recreation to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate activity programs for recreation, leisure, and therapeutic recreation programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, including confidence, maturity, flexibility, and professionalism.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing programs for individuals with disabilities
  • Working with the Manager of Special Recreation to assess and plan programs
  • Providing assistance and instruction to participants as needed
  • Preparing and implementing behavior management strategies when necessary
  • Collaborating with other staff members to ensure program success
