Key Responsibilities

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) delivers nursing care to designated patients under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other designated supervisor. The LPN is responsible for collecting observational data and communicating vital information to assist the RN and/or healthcare provider in patient assessment and care planning. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the LPN adheres to the patient care plan and the organization's policies and procedures, while embodying the principles of relationship-based care. Strong communication skills, mentoring abilities, and participation in committees or quality improvement initiatives are essential.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program or successful completion of LPN Boards after a specified duration in a professional nursing curriculum is required. If graduation occurred more than two years ago, at least one year of relevant LPN experience is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year of LPN experience within the last five years is preferred. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential. Experience in a collaborative team environment is beneficial. Proficiency in computer skills is required, with prior experience in electronic medical record systems being advantageous. The ability to work during daytime hours is necessary, with flexibility to meet staffing requirements. Adaptability to unpredictable situations in the workplace is also important. Graduation from an accredited practical nursing institution is preferred.

Licensure or Certification:

A current LPN license in accordance with state regulations is required. In Arizona and Florida, maintaining current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is mandatory. In the Midwest, BLS certification must be from recognized programs such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional specialty certifications or training may be required based on the work area.

12-hour shifts from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with the requirement to float to various locations to meet patient care needs.
